Zerfishan Adnan

Dr. Zerfishan Adnan is an innovative school principal with over 24 years of experience in education and is IB-certified. She is a school administrator who advocates for the implementation of international educational programs. Throughout her career, she has championed innovation, academic excellence, and inspirational leadership across various educational settings, from overseeing the implementation of international curricula to leading initiatives that integrate global citizenship, environmental stewardship, and 21st-century skills into every learning experience. Dr. Adnan has also participated in the Global Citizenship Education (GCED) project with APCEIU UNESCO, where she was selected from Pakistan, focusing on enriching students’ global awareness and sense of shared humanity.

Since February 2020, Dr. Adnan has served as the School Principal at Pakistan International Maarif Schools. In this role, she provides leadership and ensures alignment in delivering high-quality education across various curricula, including IB, PYP, and IGCSE. She also leads professional development initiatives, conducting training on Global Citizenship Education, Growth Mindset, Self-Efficacy, 21st-Century Learning Skills, Metacognition, and Effective Classroom Management, thereby enhancing staff capacity and teaching methods.

 

Additionally, Dr. Adnan promotes holistic development by integrating co-curricular activities, humanitarian work, and community service into the student experience, collaborating with leading organizations like the Red Crescent, WWF, and Shaukat Khanam Hospital.

 

Her experiences include serving as Assistant Principal and IGCSE Math Teacher at Pak-Turk Maarif International Schools from July 2016 to February 2020, teaching Math (Primary and Middle School) at SLS School from March 2009 to June 2016, and working as Program Coordinator at Preston University from November 2005 to March 2009.

 

Dr. Adnan holds an honorary doctorate in Education from the University of Maryland, USA (2024). She has completed numerous courses, including UNESCO APCEIU's Global Capacity-Building Workshop, GCED 101: Introduction to Global Citizenship Education, Bringing the PYP to Life from the IB Global Centre, Diversity and Inclusion in Education from the University of Glasgow, Principles of Psychological First Aid from Nonprofitready.org, and Connected Leadership from Yale University. She also holds certifications in Leadership Development from the British Council, Train-the-Trainer from Udemy, and Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert. She has received the Educator of the Year Award from the World Schools Summit in Thailand and numerous awards from Global School Alliance, MISMO, PIERA, ICAT, PATROMUN, Pak-Turk Maarif International Schools, Pakistan National Book Foundation, British Council, and World Scholar Cup.
