Prof. Dr. Numan Aruç was born on August 8, 1972, into a Turkish family in Gostivar, Macedonia, a city with a dense Turkish population. He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown at the “Mustafa Kemal Atatürk” school, studying in his native language, Turkish.
He pursued his higher education at Marmara University in Istanbul, Turkey. After completing his undergraduate and master's studies there, he earned his PhD in 2002 from the Department of Philosophy and Religious Sciences at the Institute of Social Sciences of the same university, with a dissertation titled “The Educational Philosophy of Averroes (Ibn Rushd).”
Following his PhD, Prof. Aruç returned to Macedonia to continue his academic career. He is the founder and first editor of “HİKMET,” the first academic journal in Macedonia to be published in both Turkish and English, established in 2003.
Since 2004, he has been working as an expert on Turkish-Islamic Civilization and Philosophy at the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU). Advancing through his academic ranks, he received the title of Associate Professor in 2005 and became a full Professor in 2011.
Prof. Dr. Numan Aruç has authored numerous books and articles published in various languages, primarily in Turkish. In addition to English and Arabic, he is fluent in most Balkan languages.
He is married and has two children.
