Dr Michael Hansen is a Senior Fellow in the Brown Center on Education Policy at the Brookings Institution and holds the Herman and George R. Brown Chair in Governance Studies. A labor economist by training, he has conducted original research on a wide array of education policy issues, specializing in teacher policy and school accountability. His research has been published in a variety of academic journals and books, and his research findings and commentary have been covered by national media organizations. Dr Hansen is a co-author of the new book, "Teacher Diversity and Student Success: Why Racial Representation Matters in the Classroom" (Harvard Education Press, 2021).
