Elif Leyal Uğraş

Elif Leyal Uğraş is a medical student, researcher, and writer at Bezmialem University with a strong background in international research and clinical practice. She has presented her work at numerous global forums, notably as the youngest and only Turkish presenter at the 2nd International Symposium of the UNESCO Chair in Mexico City. Her research on 'Cross-Stress Resistance in Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Cells' was awarded 2nd place at the 2024 RIMSA International Medical Student Congress in Poland. She has also presented at the 1st Cansağlığı Foundation International Medical Student Congress in Istanbul and in the İSAR Student Symposium on Medical Ethics Studies. 

Complementing her acadmic work, Elif has undertaken diverse internationaloles, including clinical internships in neurosurgery (Universitas Riau, Indonesia) and cardiothoracic surgery (Assiut University, Egypt), as well as laboratory research at the Jordan University of Science and Technology. These international experiences have provided her with a deep understanding of diverse cultural approaches to medical training. This perspective informs her work on the development and improvement of medical education. As a writer, she shares these global medical journeys and cross-cultural insights on her personal blog. 

Other interdisciplinary capabilities include statistics and data science, which reflects her interest in data-driven medicine. She is a recipient of multiple awards, including the 'Best Overall Award' from the HARVARD Future Doctors Program. She is fluent Turkish, English, and Arabic.
