Sadettin Ökten

Sadettin Ökten was born in 1942 in Istanbul. He graduated from Vefa High School in 1959. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Civil Engineering in 1964. The same year, he was accepted to the Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Architecture as an assistant. He was a visiting doctoral student in the USA from 1971-73. He received his doctorate in 1977. He conducted scientific research in Belgium in the 1979-80 academic year. He was promoted to associate professor in 1982. He transferred to Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 1985. He was promoted to professor in 1989. He retired at his request in 2004. Between 2010 and 2014, he served on the board of trustees of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University. He has been teaching at Sabahattin Zaim University since 2015.

Sadettin Ökten has made and carries out professional applications at the project level as well as educational and research activities in the field of structural engineering. He also specializes in the history and philosophy of science, culture, civilization, and the arts. He evaluated his studies on this subject with the History of Science, History of Building Technology, Urban Culture, and Urban Aesthetics courses he gave at different universities. In addition to his professional activities, he continues his interests in the field of culture and art.
