Zeynep Arkan

Assoc. Prof., Zeynep Arkan completed her primary and secondary education in Sakarya, her higher education first in Arabic Language and Literature at Selçuk University and then in the Department of Kitāb and Sunnah, Faculty of Theology, International Islamic University Malaysia. In 2015, she studied foreign language teaching methods and techniques in her master's degree at Sakarya University Faculty of Theology. During this period, he conducted research on his field in Montreal, Canada for two years and gave trainings to the Turkish community. In 2019, he completed his doctoral thesis at Gazi University Faculty of Education and worked on Foreign Language Teachers' Professional Development Programs in the Context of San Diego State University in the USA. During his graduate studies, he worked at SETA Foundation Education and Social Policies Desk in projects related to education in general and Anatolian Imam Hatip High Schools, Project Imam Hatip High Schools, foreign language education and foreign language teachers in particular. During the same period, he worked as the coordinator of foreign language teachers within the General Directorate of Teacher Training and Development of the Ministry of National Education. In this process, she developed content and provided training in many professional development programs for teachers in the fields of foreign language and teaching Turkish as a second language within the scope of UNICEF and MoNE cooperation. Similarly, between 2019 and 2020, he served as the coordinator of the Arabic Teachers Professional Development Certificate Program for Arabic teachers, which was implemented in three phases in Istanbul, Qatar and Gebze TUSSİDE by the MoNE General Directorate of Teacher Training and Development. After her postgraduate studies, she left her post as an Arabic teacher at the Ministry of National Education in 2008 and started working as an academician. She is currently a faculty member at Ankara Hacı bayram Veli University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Arabic Translation and Interpreting.

She is interested in foreign language teaching, second language teaching, methods and techniques in foreign language teaching, and professional development of foreign language teachers. She is also interested in cultural transmission and cultural communication, and in this context, she continues to write cultural travel blogs by visiting many countries of the world. She is married with two children and speaks Arabic and English.
